Chess Two

Rules

• Pieces use shields: most survive one hit before they can be removed.
• Each turn has one standard move and one Life/Death move. Human players may skip the remaining Life/Death slot.
• Life can heal shieldless adjacent pieces. Death can kill adjacent dark-square targets unless they are protected.
• Life and Death are controlled by board half, can be passed through, and annihilate each other orthogonally.
• Attacks use a staging square. Killing blows choose a resting square.
• Checking the King intimidates the checking piece and suppresses its shield.
• Pawns can advance up to three squares from home, use variant en passant, and promote on the far rank.
• Destroying a King ends the game immediately.
